Club members show they’re all heart
Inner Wheel Club of Canterbury Vikki is showing one of the popular heart shaped cushions used by those who have undergone breast treatment. The Canterbury Club has made these for our local hospitals in the past and plans to hold a session to make more for Vikki in the coming weeks. With the International Inner Wheel theme this year “Touch a Heart” it seemed entirely appropriate to spend time stuffing and stitching to help those who might be feeling vulnerable and sensitive at a difficult period in their lives.
The hearts are not simply a symbol of love and care, but offer really practical help and support. It is daunting to hear that 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed each year with breast cancer – and that over 80% of those women will be over 50 years old.
