Voting flaw is nothing new

-

Although duplicate voting cannot be condoned, your article on the subject brought back memories.

I was a student at the time of the general election of 1966. It was held on March 31, just before we went down for the Easter vacation. At the time, the age of majority was 21 years so most students could not vote. I was a latecomer to the academic life and I remember thinking that it would be physically possible for me to vote both in the Midlands, where my college was, and at my home in Hertfordshire. I didn’t, of course. Postal votes weren’t available in the 60s.

For some time now all British students have had the franchise. Isn’t it time to insist that students register either at home or at college and not both? Colin E Eyre Littlebourne Road, Canterbury
