The club travelled to the Hampshire town, competing against 22 other clubs from as far afield as Poole in Dorset but as winds pickedup throughout the day, the regatta was cut short after race 22 of 37. The men’s under-16s quad sculls were up first with Adam Taylor coxing Will White, Thomas Jeffries and brothers Bradley and Lewis Perry-french to a threelength win. Neither junior scullers James Dawkins or George Holness managed to qualify for their final but the ladies’ novice four crew of Beth Ling, Georgia Shelton, Jasmine Amos and Megan Davies, coxed again by Adam Taylor, were fourth and first of the South East Coastal Amateur Rowing Association crews. The club’s longest-standing members Stuart Webb, Mark Davies, Liz Taylor and John Cox were brought home in first place by Maisie Jeffries The under-14 quad sculls came in a close second behind the Shanklin crew but got first place points for CARA, while the girls’ under-16 quad sculls crew of Ling, Webb, White and Davies were coxed to victory by James Dawkins in tough conditions. Luke Taylor and Manuel Marques encountered trouble in the men’s junior pair race and came in fifth. Both Bay crews qualified for the final of ladies’ junior four race. The final race of the day was the masters 40+ and coxed by Dawkins, Stuart Webb, Darren White, John Cox and Liz Taylor came second behind Folkestone after taking on a lot of water.
