Ju­bi­lant Judy edges win

There were prize win­ners galore at Can­ter­bury GC’S ladies’ sec­tion this week. It was Lady Cap­tain’s Day and nearly 50 ladies took part in an 18-hole Stable­ford and 12 in a nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion, both or­gan­ised by cap­tain Mar­i­anne Dis­neur. The over­all win­ner with 38 points was Judy Gray, win­ning on count­back from Kim Atkin­son who took sec­ond place in Divi­sion 2 with Char­lotte Launois in third. Vanessa Bon­thuys topped Divi­sion 2, again with 38 points, with Gil­lian Bai­ley tak­ing sec­ond from Wendy Richards in third, both scor­ing 37 points. Win­ner of Divi­sion 1 with 35 points was Amanda Pil­beam, with Lizza Berry sec­ond and Cath Smith third, both with 34. The long­est drive on the third for higher hand­i­caps was won by Diane Plom­mer and Val Lu­cas won the long­est drive on the 13th for the lower hand­i­cap­pers. Near­est-the-pin on the 17th went to Anne Arnold. The nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion was won by Kath­leen Tay­lor with 42 points, well ahead of Val Sargeant in sec­ond with 34. The week­end Au­gust Medal was won by Jac­qui Mount with a net 70, one clear of Grace Fran­cis in sec­ond.
