The Canterbury Umbrella Centre will celebrate its 25th anniversary in the city next week with a party.

The charity in St Peter’s Place provides a drop-in cafe and supports people with mental health issues and learning difficulties.

It also runs a job club and adult education classes as well as activities, including arts and crafts, fitness classes, yoga and a pool.

Now local design agency, Dodgems and Floss has helped the charity mark its anniversary by giving its logo and publicity material a new look. The centre will also celebrate the occasion with a party at noon on Friday, October 20, where the public can meet the staff and volunteers.

The charity’s funding from the county council was cut three years ago and it now relies on local businesses for support as well as university students and sixth-formers who volunteer their time.
