Man fighting for life after crash
A man is fighting for his life after a multi-vehicle pile-up on the A299 Thanet Way which closed the road for 10 hours.
Police say a recovery truck had broken down a mile from the St Nicholas roundabout and was straddling the hard shoulder and lane one of the London- bound carriageway when it was hit from behind by a black Vauxhall Astra.
The car caught fire and emergency services including fire fighters and an air ambulance were quickly on the scene.
The driver, a 25-year-old man from Sittingbourne, was airlifted to a London hospital where his injuries are said to be life threatening. Nobody else was injured.
It happened at around 9.50pm on Monday and also involved a blue Peugeot 406.
