The Lang­ton Girls’ was one of 277 schools cho­sen to tap into a £2bn gov­ern­ment pot for those in dire need of re­build­ing or re­fur­bish­ment.

It ap­plied dur­ing phase two of the Pri­or­ity School Build­ing Pro­gramme, which spent £2.4bn on schools dur­ing its first phase from 2014.

The strict selec­tion cri­te­ria ranked schools which ap­plied for the fund­ing by their con­di­tion and size, with each pro­ject hav­ing to have a min­i­mum cost of £500,000.

The Lang­ton Girls’ was one of 13 schools across Kent se­lected, in­clud­ing the Abbey School in Faver­sham.
