Come and try cricket
Grasmere Park Cricket Club are extending their training to include junior indoor sessions over the winter and look forward to welcoming new members. Monday evening sessions will be for years 1, 2, 3 and 4 only and will be softball cricket. These will run weekly until December 11 and then from January 8 to April 23. Thursday evening sessions are for children in school years 5, 6, 7 and 8 only and will be hard ball. Players will need their own kit although a small amount of equipment is available for those wanting to come along for a trial session initially. However, boys will need to bring their own protective box otherwise for safety reasons they can’t bat. These sessions run weekly until December 14, and then from January 11 to April 26. Both Monday and Thursday sessions are from 5.50pm to 7.30pm and the training fee is £3 per session. The location is Kent College Senior School sports hall behind the hockey artificial pitch. Parking is available at the Austen House car park via Neal’s Place Road. In addition to cricket skills, the children gain new friends, confidence and last year, the junior club entered leagues as well as playing tournaments and friendly matches.
