Gras­mere Park Cricket Club are ex­tend­ing their train­ing to in­clude ju­nior in­door ses­sions over the win­ter and look for­ward to wel­com­ing new mem­bers. Mon­day evening ses­sions will be for years 1, 2, 3 and 4 only and will be soft­ball cricket. These will run weekly un­til De­cem­ber 11 and then from Jan­uary 8 to April 23. Thursday evening ses­sions are for chil­dren in school years 5, 6, 7 and 8 only and will be hard ball. Play­ers will need their own kit al­though a small amount of equip­ment is avail­able for those want­ing to come along for a trial ses­sion ini­tially. How­ever, boys will need to bring their own protective box oth­er­wise for safety rea­sons they can’t bat. These ses­sions run weekly un­til De­cem­ber 14, and then from Jan­uary 11 to April 26. Both Mon­day and Thursday ses­sions are from 5.50pm to 7.30pm and the train­ing fee is £3 per ses­sion. The lo­ca­tion is Kent Col­lege Se­nior School sports hall be­hind the hockey ar­ti­fi­cial pitch. Park­ing is avail­able at the Austen House car park via Neal’s Place Road. In ad­di­tion to cricket skills, the chil­dren gain new friends, con­fi­dence and last year, the ju­nior club en­tered leagues as well as play­ing tour­na­ments and friendly matches.
