The last of the ma­jor events in the ladies’ golf­ing calendar at Broome Park GC was the Au­tumn Meet­ing.

The morn­ing round of a 18-hole medal com­pe­ti­tion re­sulted in the scratch prize be­ing won by Sylvia Beacham (h13) with a gross 89.

First prize on hand­i­cap went to 23-hand­i­cap­per Mar­i­lyn Hunt with a net 73, three bet­ter than run­ner-up Nieves Clark, play­ing off 18, with Annabel Fuller (h18) a fur­ther shot back in third.

The af­ter­noon four­somes was won by Elaine Wil­cox and Clark (both h18) with 19 points over nine holes.

The Thor­ough Tro­phy was pre­sented to Hunt who scooped the top prize with an ag­gre­gate net 143 made up from the Spring Meet­ing – where she scored an im­pres­sive net 70 – plus the net 73 for the Au­tumn Meet­ing.

Prizes also were pre­sented to the win­ners of the knock­out com­pe­ti­tions con­tested dur­ing the year.

The sin­gles knock­out tro­phy the Mal­let Cup went to Sue Shep­herd and the four­somes knock­out tro­phy The Hur­ri­cane Cup was won by Wil­cox and Clark. tak­ing sec­ond place two points back. The new ladies win­ter tour­na­ment got un­der­way at the week­end with 12 pairs tak­ing to the course.

The first round was played as a bet­ter­ball for­mat with two teams com­ing in with 40 points.

Diane Florence and Max­ine Field just edged out Lizza Berry and Jac­qui Mount on count­back. Rob­son made full use of his lo­cal knowl­edge by card­ing 42 points.

Ex- Ch­est­field mem­ber Ian Jackson was a point be­hind on 41.

Count­back edged Antony Back into third just beat­ing Andy Oxberry and Sue Jones, all on 35

The semi-fi­nal cup match was even tighter with Kev Mullins and Dave Gre­gory tak­ing the tie to the last hole with Gre­gory just tak­ing the first grand fi­nal spot 1-up.

Other win­ners in­cluded near­est the pins for Nigel Steven­son,. Steve Win­der and Robert Im­pey with the 2s club going to Ian Jackson. .
