Millard leads team to gold
Alexandra Millard led the way as Invicta East Kent’s under-17 girls claimed team gold in the second meeting of the season in the Kent Cross-country League at Somerhill School, Tonbridge.
Millard clocked a time of 14min 16sec to finish nine seconds clear of Lara Atkinson, of Cambridge Harriers, who had won the opening race at Stanhill Farm.
Roseanna Temple ran 14.30 for third and the winning team was completed by Louise Flynn (16.39), who was 22nd, three places in front of team-mate Alice Mount (17.14).
Tom Hutton continued his excellent start to the season in the under-13 boys’ category, taking his second win in an exciting finish which saw the first four separated by just three seconds.
Hutton crossed the line in 11.57, with clubmate Jamie Keir fourth in 12 minutes exactly. Reef Page (12.25) also finished in the top six as Invicta took the team prize.
Isaac Waters was 12th, Kado Bateman 49th, Adam Whitlock 56th, Harrison White 57th and Benedikt Stokes 65th.
Teigan Sullivan secured a second successive third in the under-13 girls’ race while Chloe Sands was 11th and Eliza Mills 32nd as they finished fifth overall.
The under-17 boys were second team home with all three scorers finishing in the top 11. Charlie Brisley was third, Jo Griffiths eighth and Matt Stonier 11th.
Invicta’s entry was completed by Marcus Etheridge ( 20th), James Futcher (57th) and James Ackhurst (59th).
Maddison Sawyer (12th) was first home for the under- 15s girls, closely followed by Isabelle Harding (17th) and Emilia Stokes (20th). They were fourth in the team standings.
The senior women also finished fourth, led by Lilly Coward who was fourth. The other scorers were Sarah Hall ( 13th) and Gabija Rasiukeviciute (25th), while Rebecca Jackson was 83rd.
Sam Newson, was sixth in the under-15 boys’ race with Thomas Williams 26th and Daniel Baldwin 56th as Invicta finished sixth.
Jo Whitby was 15th in the under20 men’s race with Rob Whittaker 94th and Gavin Whitlock 142nd in the senior men’s race.
