Primates enjoy presents
Animals at Howletts didn’t miss out on festive good cheer after keepers handed out Christmas stockings.
Brightly coloured stockings were hung in the lemur garden habitat at the wild animal park – stuffed with tasty treats.
And while cautious at first, the animals – native to Madagascar – soon got into the swing of the season.
They proved so popular, the Javan gibbons and white-naped mangabeys also received the specially prepared gifts.
Howletts head primate keeper Matt Ford said: “Providing our animals with new activities and objects to interact with is an important part of the enrichment work that the keepers do with the animals across every section as it helps to stimulate and interest the animals we look after.”
