Faver­sham GC handed over a cheque for more than £8,000 to lo­cal char­ity, the Fyn­vola Foun­da­tion, at the club’s pre­sen­ta­tion evening. More than 100 mem­bers and guests at­tended the an­nual event at Bel­mont Road. The club’s cap­tains pre­sented the cheque to the char­ity, which helps pro­vide nurs­ing and pal­lia­tive care to peo­ple with learn­ing dis­abil­i­ties. The fol­low­ing Fri­day, for­mer WBC light heavy­weight cham­pion John Conteh was guest of honour at the club. The 66-year-old played a round with three mem­bers who bid to play with him and the pres­i­dent was his caddy. Sixty peo­ple at­tended the black tie evening event. Conteh was guest speaker, where he told anec­dotes about his ca­reer. A raf­fle was held to win a signed pair of box­ing gloves.
