KENT METALLERS ANNOUNCE THEMSELVES WITH FITTINGLY-CONTAGIOUS DEBUT EP

■ THERE’S A tantalising grubbiness about this four-track debut.the hard-grafting, dirtbeneath-the-fingernails earthiness, speedy thrash grooves and even the band’s Anthrax-referencing name (and its amusingly-infectious acronym) seem crafted to dig under your skin.there’s plenty of the ’Thrax’s pit-smashing, speed-freak swagger about ridiculously-titled opener F.U.C.K.U. and Lost Generation, but when Viral hits stride with brooding epic Bulldozer, the crowdbouncing riffs and creeping breakdowns of Machine Head spring more easily to mind. Regardless of where they caught the heavy metal fever, though, this Kent quintet seem unstoppably eager to pass it on. DOWNLOAD: F.U.C.K.U., Bulldozer. FOR FANS OF: Pantera, Machine Head.
