“M y fam­ily’s had a roast din­ner nearly ev­ery Sun­day my whole life, but Christ­mas din­ner re­ally is the ul­ti­mate roast. It’s ev­ery­thing you love about a roast, plus all the fancy ex­tras.

“When it comes to cook­ing the turkey, you want to keep it sim­ple: a bit of salt and pep­per, maybe some but­ter, and that’s’re not look­ing for some Jamie Oliver-in­spired crazy in­fu­sion of flavours – you just want it to be well­cooked do­ing the roast pota­toes in the oven we’ll do them in the deep-fat fryer, which takes them to the next well as that we’ll have car­rots with some spe­cial sea­son­ing, York­shire pud­dings and roast parsnips, and I like sprouts a lot, which per­haps makes me a bit weird.

“We never skimp when it comes to stuff­ing, and it’s al­ways made from scratch with some lit­tle bits of ba­con in, which re­ally brings it to life. It’s def­i­nitely best cooked
