HEY, MIKEY! JUST HOW ENTHUSED ARE YOU TO FINALLY BE TAKING WIRED TO THE MASSES ON THIS TOUR?

MIKEY CHAPMAN (Vocals):“massively.we started working on it in early 2016 and the process has been ongoing since then, so this will be our first opportunity to play the songs in bulk. We’ve played an odd one here or there, in some form, but this is the environment and format they should be heard in.we’re a little bit apprehensive because it’s the first time, but we’ve been working through the teething problems.” HAVING BEEN OFF THE ROAD FOR A WHILE ARE YOU ALL IN DECENT SHAPE RIGHT NOW OR WILL THE FIRST FEW DATES JUST ABOUT KILL YOU? “We’ve certainly had a few months since we’ve done anything particularly physically taxing, so I think there’s going to be a lot of sweat and a lot of heavy breathing. But, dya know what? They kind of go hand in hand with a good rock show, so that’s no bad thing! I think we’ll be alright – we may have to sleep a lot more than usual but we’ll just about survive.”

SPEAKING OF WIRED, HAVE YOU EVER BEEN SHOCKED BY A MIC OR INSTRUMENT?

“Back in the day I used to play bass and we had a couple of times where we’d have a bad set-up and you’d end up singing and the mic would electrocute your lips. It’s horrible, because obviously you have to lean in and sing, but you try to keep a certain amount of millimetres from it. But you never quite manage it! That’s as dramatic as my electrocution stories get.”

SO APPARENTLY YOU NEARLY GOT ARRESTED WHILE PLAYING GOLF IN AMERICA – WHAT HAPPENED?

“We were in Florida and we went onto the crazy golf course outside the hotel, and they had an alligator enclosure, and being really drunk we decided it would be a really good idea to pet the alligators.they were only little, we weren’t in too much danger, but next thing we knew four cop cars had done a pincer move on the box we’re in, the cops had their guns out and were yelling at us to get down. I’d never seen a gun in real life before, so I kinda shit myself. It was an experience! Luckily everyone else knew what to do to get us out of that, but I thought we were goners! It’s a story for the books, though.”

HOW FAR HAS TOUR BOREDOM PUSHED YOU IN PAST?

“We once played Uno for nine hours. hours.we were on the road to somewhere in Europe, and we had exhausted just about everything else, and I kept saying,‘just one more, just one more’ – and then we found out we were still five hours away from where we were going, so we just cracked on.” Nine

FINALLY, IF WIRED SELLS LIKE CRAZY WILL YOU BE GETTING THE BIGGEST BUS ANYONE’S EVER SEEN?

“Oh, definitely! Actually, I’d probably go more in the direction of a private jet. I keep getting really jealous of American friends of mine who I keep seeing on private jets!”
