PANIC! ON BROADWAY
BRENDON URIE’S ONLY GONE AND AUDITIONED FOR A MUSICAL. AND GOT THE ROLE. OBVIOUSLY
WHEN BRENDON Urie guest-edited this magazine last year, he broke his very own exclusive: that his dream was to perform on Broadway.and last week, it became a reality, when the Panic! At The Disco frontman announced he’d be joining the cast of Kinky Boots, from May 26 to August 6 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in Newyork.
‘I lost a bet to a guy in a chiffon skirt / But I make these high heels work,’ sings Brendon on Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time, and during his stint in the show he’ll be making those high heels work for real. See, the character he’ll be playing is Charlie Price, who inherits his dad’s shoe factory and gets pally with a drag queen called Lola.together the pair set about producing a line of high-heeled boots. Um, kinky ones…
“This has been on my bucket list for the longest time and it really is a dream come true,” said the singer in a video on Twitter.“i’m just so incredibly excited to be joining Kinky Boots on Broadway. That’s wild! Plus you guys get to see me in those heels now (laughs). So that’s pretty cool. I really hope you guys make it out.”
Don’t worry, Brendon, we’ll make it out even if we have to sell all our shoes for air fare.
