HEY, GREG! WE LAST SAW YOU OVER HERE SIX MONTHS AGO – ARE YOU KEEN TO GET BACK?

GREG BARNETT (VOCALS/ GUITAR):“OH yeah, we’re so excited.we’re all really looking forward to it, and we’ve been thinking about set lists and logistics and planning everything.all of the shows have been selling out, so I think it’s going to be a really fun time.”

ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE A NEW SET LIST?

“Yeah, definitely.we always like to switch things around, and having as many records as we do now is crazy.we’ve always been a band where we’d have a block and maybe switch one or two out each night, and it seems like there’s a lot of good reactions to the new record, in terms of what to play and what not to play.”

OVERALL, HOW HAVE THE SONGS FROM AFTER THE PARTY BEEN GOING DOWN?

“It’s been unbelievable. It’s been by far the best reaction to new songs that we’ve had in our career, so it’s been absolutely insane seeing the way people react to them.”

WHAT COMES AFTER THE PARTY WHEN YOU’RE ON THE ROAD – ANOTHER PARTY?

“Yeah, I guess you could say that! Being backstage is usually a good hang and a really fun time. But I don’t want to give up too much incriminating behaviour (laughs)!”

CAN YOU REMEMBER THE MOST PARTYSCARRED CONDITION YOU’VE HAD TO PLAY A SHOW IN?

“I actually vividly remember this! We played Reading & Leeds for the first time; we played Leeds on a Friday night, then drove to London and flew to Finland for a festival on Saturday, and then we were flying back for Reading the next day.at Leeds I just partied way too hard, it was raining, we were covered in mud, and had to wake up super-early for that flight – and I was in Finland thinking,‘i just can’t do this – this is brutal!’ We got through it, and then we almost missed our flight back, but we made friends with the woman at the ticket counter and she ran us through the airport. It was awesome!”

ON YOUR TRAVELS, HAVE YOU EVER HAD SOMEONE COME UP TO YOU AT A SHOW AND SAY, ‘MY LAST NAME IS MENZINGER’?

“Yes, once! Also, it’s a Bavarian family name, and when we’ve played shows in Bavaria we’ve had people come up and ask us why we named our band after that, which is pretty funny!”

WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEONE COMES TO A SHOW WITH I.D. PROVING THAT THEY REALLY ARE A MENZINGER? WOULD YOU GIVE THEM SPECIAL TREATMENT AND LET THEM GET IN FOR FREE?

“Absolutely. I think it would be rude of us to say no to that (laughs)!”

FINALLY, WHAT ELSE IS COMING UP FOR YOU GUYS AFTER THIS TOUR? DO YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER TOURING PLANS? OR HOW ABOUT SINGLES, VIDEOS OR ANYTHING ELSE IN THE PIPELINE?

“We’ve got a lot going on! We’re doing the UK and hopping over to Europe for a couple of shows, and then we go to Japan for a week. That’ll be our first time, so it’s really exciting. When we come back from that, we’re playing Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas, and then we

have a couple of festival shows in the summer and a couple of boat booze cruises around the States.and then there’s more tours in the fall. So it’s really busy, but it’s awesome!”
