POP-PUNK 2017: IT'S ALL ABOUT BIG HISTORY BOOKS, LONG - DISTANCE FOOTBALL SUPPORTING AND BEES...

Kerrang! (UK) - - News -

MY FAVOURITE STAND-UP COMEDIAN IS…

“Mitch Hedberg. He’s not with us anymore, but his style of comedy in the ’90s would have killed on Twitter. It was simple, concise, genius and completely absurd.”

MY UNUSUAL HOBBY IS…

“Beekeeping.when I lived in the UK, I would keep bees.that’s a fairly unusual hobby, right? I loved it. I loved the science of it, the tranquillity of it, and getting the honey, too. It was really fulfilling.you have to be very deliberate and very sure of yourself, so it’s very calming. Now? I play video games and read books about war.”

IF I WASN’T IN A BAND, I’D BE…

“A high school English teacher. When I dropped out of college to do blink full-time, I was studying to do that.there was a teacher in my high school who made Shakespeare and literature completely interesting. I wanted to be the type of teacher who’d make the subject interesting and inspire teenagers to read for fun. My son is 14 now and he’s had some teachers who’ve been like that. His science and French teachers have affected him in a positive way.”

MY FOOTBALL TEAM IS…

“Chelsea. Sometimes I get up early to watch the games. It was hard to follow American football when I lived in London, and it’s hard to follow the English Premier League in the U.S., but I still support the team and follow the tables. I went to Stamford Bridge a few times, and I loved the experience. It’s so vastly different to American football in a really interesting way.”

MY SPECIALIST QUIZ SUBJECT WOULD BE…

“History. I was terrible at it at school, but I’ve read a lot of history books. Until this year, I did not read many fiction books at all.when you’re reading fiction, you get to the end and you’re like,‘that person just made it up’. I’ve read about the two World Wars, the American Civil War, and this past year, I’ve read about the American Revolutionary War.”

MY FIRST JOB WAS…

“In a Little Caesars pizza restaurant. I was in high school and one opened up not far from my house. Me and my friends worked there.we were too young to deliver, so we mostly ran the shop; we made pizzas and cleaned the place. One time, I got to work the cash register and I felt really important.after I moved from that town, I got a job at a pizza restaurant there as well. I worked there for four years, doing everything. I even wore the restaurant’s mascot outfit and waved at people on the street!”

ON MY BUCKET LIST, I WANT TO…

“See the Titanic. It’s way too expensive for me to do it, but I read this morning that you can pay money to tour the wreckage. I think it would be really interesting to go underwater and see everything, but I think it’d be crazy scary and claustrophobic, too. My hands would sweat the entire time.”

THE THING I’M MOST SCARED OF IS…

“Death. It happens to everybody, but I’m going to do my best to make my life the first one that fear doesn’t affect.when you become a parent, it changes everything about you so much.when I was a kid, I felt invincible and indestructible. But when you become responsible for another person’s life, health and happiness, you’re like,‘wow, this is serious – this is the real deal now.’ So, death is the ultimate fear.”

“I LOVE THE TRANQUILLITY OF BEEKEEPING…” ● MARK HOPPUS ●
