BENEATH THIS SHROUD, THE EARTH ERODES (PROSTHETIC) DOOMY AND GLOOMY MINNEAPOLIS QUARTET ATTEMPT TO BURY TRUMP

Kerrang! (UK) - - REVIEWS -

■ THE DAY after Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election, Livid decided to rewrite the lyrics for their Prosthetic debut. In turn, the Minneapolis quartet have painted the bleakest of futures on the follow-up to their two-part, 22 minute debut Sint. Over the course of five molasses-thick doom tracks, Livid satisfyingly stay in the same gear for much of the album’s duration.the delicately ominous opener Descend kicks off their eye-clawing grief fest, before giving way to the overwhelming swell and crash of Nothing. Album highlight Sins Of God sips from the blackened chalice of Tony Iommi, while album closer Into Nothing veers on the majestic. So while The Donald’s cack-handed term in office threatens to derail the USA, at least we got a decent doom album out of it. Swings and miserable roundabouts, right? DOWNLOAD: Sins Of God. FOR FANS OF: Saint Vitus, Neurosis.
