ONE OK ROCK INVADE THE UK

Kerrang! (UK) - - Reading Leads -

They’re enormous in Their home nation, and The Japanese rockers are using r&l To further world domination… THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME PLAYING AT READING & LEEDS – PRESUMABLY YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT?

TAKA MORIUCHI (VOCALS): “Oh yeah, totally! That festival is huge, so getting invited to come and play there is a big thing for us! We like to think what we do is very entertaining and has tons of energy, and we put a lot of emotion into it, so hopefully we can get people as excited as we are.we haven’t been in the UK yet this year, and our fans have been really stoked about us coming back for these festivals – and I’ll definitely be watching Eminem while I’m there! I’m a big fan – I don’t always know what he’s saying, but he’s so cool!”

YOU’RE ON A MASSIVE TOUR OF THE U.S. AND CANADA RIGHT NOW – HOW’S THAT GOING?

“It’s been very cool. We’ve been hitting so many cities we’ve never played before, and getting to be in front of so many people who haven’t seen us is a dream come true. There’s been a good mix of new faces and core fans who have been following us from show to show, and having everyone’s support has been awesome.”

WHEN YOU RELEASED AMBITIONS IN JANUARY, YOU SOLD MORE THAN 200,000 COPIES IN JAPAN ALONE. HOW DID THAT FEEL?

“It was amazing.the exciting thing about that is that it means we’re reaching new fans out there, and even though it’s a big number I still see it as baby steps, because there are so many more people out there we’d love to hear us.”

ARE WE LIKELY TO SEE YOU BACK IN THE UK BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR?

“We’re working on something right now. I can’t say the details yet, but if all goes well we can see the people who come to Reading or Leeds two times this year!”

AND HAVE YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO WORK ON ANY NEW MUSIC ALONGSIDE ALL THE TOURING?

“I have, actually – two or three songs already, and we’re working on more right now.and I think they’re great!” the Pit / the LOCK UP; R: saturday, 9:15Pm; L: sunday, 8:55Pm
