12 YOU ME AT SIX PACK AN ARENA INTO A TENT

Kerrang! (UK) - - Reading Leads -

If you want to see five lads try to cram as much as they can Into a tent, you won’t be needing to hang In the campsite YOU RECENTLY TURNED 27, SOMETHING OF A ROCKSTAR LANDMARK…

JOSH FRANCESCHI (VOCALS):“I’VE made it – somehow I’ve blagged my way through it! It’s weird because we’ve always been seen as the young dudes because our band started having our moment in the sun when we were 19 or 20. If we were professional footballers we’d be in the peak of our fitness, so it’s cool. I know I’m getting older because the hangovers are getting harder to deal with.”

HAS BEING A YEAR OLDER GIVEN YOU CAUSE TO TAKE STOCK OF WHAT YOU HAVE OR HAVEN’T YET ACHIEVED?

“Of course it depends on how you measure success, but I’m definitely aware of what we’ve done, as well as the ambition I have for us to do more. My hope is that we continue to write great songs that people enjoy listening to, and that we keep evolving. I’ve done a lot by 27, but there are still things I’d like to achieve with my friends in this band we’re in, so we’ll see where it takes us.”

YOU’RE HEADLINING THE BBC RADIO 1 STAGE AT READING & LEEDS, AND HAVE TEASED SOME BIG PLANS…

“We’re bringing our headline show to a tent, which we’ve never been able to do before.we’ve never really been able to bring production to Reading & Leeds, so it’s going to be a show that people haven’t seen before.we’re also in talks with a bunch of friends about some special appearances, so we’re working it all out. It’s a big honour to play that slot, so we’re going to give it some beans.”

YOU TWEETED THAT YOU WERE RECENTLY “WRITING SONGS TO SOOTHE THE SOUL”. WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THESE SONGS?

“We’ve changed the DNA of our band when it comes to songwriting. It’s an exciting period creatively for us because we’re throwing the rulebook out. I’d love for us to have new music out this year if we can, but if not I’d like the album to be out for late spring or early summer next year.we’re working towards not having our fans wait too long.” BBC RADIO 1 STAGE; R: FRIDAY, 10:25pm; L: SATURDAY, 9:55pm
