GERMAN GUN-SLINGERS BRING THE LOW-SLUNG RIFF’N’ROLL

■ WITH GUNS N’ Roses reborn, it’s not certain we need a new bunch.the New Roses are nearer the second division of sleaze – the new Bang Tango, perhaps – but it’s always good to see leather-clad riff-slingers keeping it dirty.the name could also be seen as a Damned reference, but they don’t really have the punk edge of a Backyard Babies or Wildhearts (despite a track called Every Wild Heart).this does have a raw grit to it, but it’s channelled into pure, bluesy hard rock, punctuated by teary man-ballads and the occasional country-fried twanger. It’s solid rather than spectacular, but for rock purists there’s still a lot to like here. DOWNLOAD: The Same Moon. FOR FANS OF: Guns N’ Roses, Bang Tango.
