BECCA MACINTYRE, MARMOZETS
“I had been wanting to go see UNDERØATH for a long time. All the boys had already seen them, and it was the Bottomleys [Jack and Will, guitar and bass, respectively] who invited me along. I was so completely focused on seeing them – they were the reason why I was there, though there were loads of bands playing that day, and some of the others were cool.
“Versaemerge were on the bill and I thought they were sick! The singer [Sierra Kusterbeck] had all of these feathers and this weird foxtail thing she was wearing, and I remember thinking,‘well this is kind of cool!’
“When I saw UNDERØATH all I could think was,‘there is no band like this in the world at the moment!’ That band captivated me beyond anything else I’d ever experienced or imagined. I can’t pick out a single moment, because every one of them was as amazing as the last. All of the songs were just incredible, and they were so real. There was no gimmick, there was no selling out; they came out onstage and poured their souls out the entire time they were up there, in the most beautiful way. They were giving it their all and had nothing to hide, which was so inspiring – and I moshed! I said my prayers before I went in and came out the other side with no injuries!”
