PARKWAY DRIVE, VOCALS
HOW WAS THAT FOR YOU?
“Really fun! It’s the first time we’ve done anything like this, where we’re not only playing a full record but fully re-learning songs that we’ve forgotten how to play! Once I learn the words I’m fine, but for the guys playing instruments the timing and the riffs on Breaking Point, Five Months and Frostbite… what planet were we on when we wrote those songs? It’s really great playing them again, though. There’s no autopilot. It’s like we’ve played all the hits so many times that we know them back to front. With these, we’ve got to focus, which is really awesome, because it means you’re in that moment of performance.”
YOU WERE 25 WHEN THE ALBUM CAME OUT. WHAT’S IT LIKE REPLICATING THAT INTENSITY AT 35?
“To be honest, I feel as though we’re playing these songs better now than we ever have. I feel better onstage and I feel as though my voice is better. I feel as though it’s giving an entire new life to this record, to be honest. It’s a really odd sensation that I never thought we’d get from doing this.”
