K CALIFORNIA GOTH METALLERS DELIVER THE ODDEST COVERS YOU’LL EVER HEAR

■ COVERS EPS? There’s nothing wrong with that, but you do have to wonder quite what the thinking was behind New Years Day’s song selections on Diary Of A Creep.the one original here, opening track Disgust Me, is the sort of dark, stomping stuff we’ve come to expect from Ash Costello and co. but the five covers that follow are just crackers. take, for example, their reworking of Pantera’s Fucking Hostile, which replaces the original’s speed and breathless aggression with keyboards, slow grooves, and the question of whether they’ve ever actually heard the song before. Linkin Park’s Crawling is a more obvious choice, but it comes out weird, while Garbage’s Only Happy When It Rains (featuring Lzzy Hale) is only good next to the unnecessarily pumped-up version of No Doubt’s Don’t Speak that follows, and has you genuinely wondering what’s going on. Is there any point to this? Absolutely not. DOWNLOAD: Disgust Me. FOR FANS OF: Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson.
