OFF THE RECORD
A quick guide to the rest of
SINK OR SWIM (2007)
The Gaslight Anthem had already impressed with the urgent, melodic punk of their debut. Its heart-on-sleeve sentiment and rough-around-the-edges musicianship made for an exhilarating pairing.
SEÑOR AND THE QUEEN (EP, 2008)
This four-track EP release expanded on Brian Fallon’s already promising songwriting with emphatic proof that they could handle both hard-and-fast punk, as well as touching ballads.
AMERICAN SLANG (2010)
You can almost tell that the band knew they were on to another winner here, with Brian Fallon admitting in the opening titletrack: ‘Look what you started/i seem to be coming out of my skin’, as they continued fulfilling their rock’n’roll dreams. HANDWRITTEN (2012) From the instant “45”, to the breathless rush of Howl and National Anthem, the NJ punks were firing on all cylinders on their major label debut.
GET HURT (2014)
Inspired by bands who had taken left-turns in their career, The Gaslight Anthem’s latest (and final?) album was unlike anything that had come before it. Less accessible than its predecessors, but no less dynamic.
