I PICK THE SKIN ON MY FEET

“This only happens once a year, but my feet will peel, just from being calloused, and I really love peeling them. It’s very satisfying. The skin’ll come off in sheets. You don’t feel any of it, it’s all completely dead, but it’s just really fun to peel off. Everybody makes fun of me for it, so I don’t think it grosses them out that much. They say, ‘Oh, there goes Gerd, peelin’ her feet again.’ Gerd’s my middle name, so most of our crew will call me Gerd.”

I HAD A CRUSH ON MY BABYSITTERS

“It took me a while to realise this, but I definitely had a crush on all of my babysitters when I was younger – but I didn’t realise ’til I worked out I like girls. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s why I cried whenever our babysitters left.’ I remember feeling particularly heartbroken when we drove one back to her work. We dropped her off, and then got home and I was watching Casper, and the main girl kinda reminded me of the babysitter, and I was so sad.”

I GO ONLINE SHOPPING WHEN I’M DRUNK

“I’m a pretty responsible drunk so this isn’t really bad, but I’ll order stuff online. I ordered a bunch of art books one time and I totally forgot about it. Then weeks later they arrived and I was like, ‘When did I order these?!’ I had been thinking about them for a while and drunk me was like, ‘Alright, bitch! We’re doing this!’”

I NEVER STOLE ANYTHING… UNTIL RECENTLY

“This past New Year’s I was in a bar, and it had a bunch of balloons on the ceiling, and I definitely stole, like, 10 of them. I never stole anything growing up. I have the guiltiest conscience. My brother’s exgirlfriend in high school I’m pretty sure was a kleptomaniac. I would go to the shop with her before school and she would always steal something. Even just being near her stealing, I could not handle.”

I REALLY HATE BEING COLD

“My biggest pet peeve is being cold. If I’m in a room with AC that’s cranked up, I go crazy! It happens a lot on the tour bus. I wouldn’t even say it makes me grumpy – it used to, because I would project that outwards, but now I’m like, ‘Okay everybody else needs this, so go put on sweatpants.’”

MY BIGGEST REGRET IS WORKING TOO HARD

“I regret working really hard in high school to get good grades. A couple of weeks ago my mom was talking to my brother and I, saying: ‘I always told you guys, if you got a C or above, we were happy, as long as your behaviour in class was good.’ I swear I never remembered them saying that! I was convinced we had to get straight As! Maybe the pressure was coming from myself, but it made school unenjoyable and stressful when it didn’t need to be. But I think that applies to a lot of other chapters in my life, too, just putting way too much pressure on myself.”
