Make three tealight cosies, one in each colour. Using 4mm straight knitting needles and yarn A, B or C, cast on 11 sts. Row 1: K2, *p1, k1; rep from * to last 3 sts, p1, k2. Row 2: As row 1. These 2 rows form moss stitch pattern with garter edging, repeat until work fits circumference of glass tea light holder.
MAKING UP Using yarn D and running stitch, embroider ‘party’ on cosy made in yarn B, ‘time’ on cosy made in yarn A and ‘!’ on cosy made in yarn C. Join cast on edge to cast off edge using mattress stitch.
Letter Y 1 Cut a 19cm (7½in) length of pipe cleaner. 2 Working in rounds around pipe cleaner, knit to end of pipe cleaner and until work measures 7cm (2¾in) from cast on edge. 3 Join in yarn D, holding yarn A and D together continue to knit around pipe cleaner until work measures 20cm (7¾in). 4 Cut yarn leaving a long tail and pull tight through 6sts. Fasten off. 5 Cut a 12cm (4¾in) length of pipe cleaner. Using 4mm needles and holding yarn A and D together cast on 6 sts. 6 Working in rounds around pipe cleaner, knit to end of pipe cleaner and until work measures 10cm (4in) from cast on edge. Cut yarn leaving a long tail and pull tight through 6sts. 7 Use the extra 2cm (¾in) of pipe cleaner left to wrap around 20cm (7¾in) length of knitting (11cm or 4½in up from cast on edge) to form a ‘Y’ shape.
