Per­son­alised, shim­mer­ing tealight cosies th­ese will add a warmth and glow late into the evening.

Make three tealight cosies, one in each colour. Us­ing 4mm straight knit­ting nee­dles and yarn A, B or C, cast on 11 sts. Row 1: K2, *p1, k1; rep from * to last 3 sts, p1, k2. Row 2: As row 1. Th­ese 2 rows form moss stitch pat­tern with garter edg­ing, re­peat un­til work fits cir­cum­fer­ence of glass tea light holder.

MAK­ING UP Us­ing yarn D and run­ning stitch, em­broi­der ‘party’ on cosy made in yarn B, ‘time’ on cosy made in yarn A and ‘!’ on cosy made in yarn C. Join cast on edge to cast off edge us­ing mat­tress stitch.

Let­ter Y 1 Cut a 19cm (7½in) length of pipe cleaner. 2 Work­ing in rounds around pipe cleaner, knit to end of pipe cleaner and un­til work mea­sures 7cm (2¾in) from cast on edge. 3 Join in yarn D, hold­ing yarn A and D to­gether con­tinue to knit around pipe cleaner un­til work mea­sures 20cm (7¾in). 4 Cut yarn leav­ing a long tail and pull tight through 6sts. Fas­ten off. 5 Cut a 12cm (4¾in) length of pipe cleaner. Us­ing 4mm nee­dles and hold­ing yarn A and D to­gether cast on 6 sts. 6 Work­ing in rounds around pipe cleaner, knit to end of pipe cleaner and un­til work mea­sures 10cm (4in) from cast on edge. Cut yarn leav­ing a long tail and pull tight through 6sts. 7 Use the ex­tra 2cm (¾in) of pipe cleaner left to wrap around 20cm (7¾in) length of knit­ting (11cm or 4½in up from cast on edge) to form a ‘Y’ shape.
