It’s also a lovely yarn for blan­kets as it’s that bit heav­ier but still creates a soft, fluid shape. If you’re af­ter a plant fi­bre yarn of this weight, the ma­chine wash­able Sir­dar Cot­ton Rich Aran is a good choice. Aran is also the name of a style of knit­ting with dis­tinc­tive in­ter­twin­ing cables nor­mally as­so­ci­ated with off-white, Ir­ish fish­er­mans’ jumpers.
