This del­i­cate beanie hat is lux­u­ri­ously soft and in­cred­i­bly fem­i­nine thanks to the rich al­paca con­tent. It’ll match al­most ev­ery­thing in your wardrobe and ba­si­cally be your best friend dur­ing the chilly win­ter months. With stripes never go­ing out of fash­ion, they’re bril­liant for us­ing up ran­dom balls from your stash too. Once knit­ted, we’re con­vinced you’ll be hooked on mak­ing hats – we cer­tainly are! When chang­ing the stripe colours, break the yarn each time. Weave in all ends once the shap­ing is com­plete, and be­fore sewing the side seam.

HAT Us­ing 3.25mm nee­dles and Soft Grey cast on 110 sts us­ing the long tail method (p91). Set up row (WS): K2 (p2, k2) to end. Row 1 (RS): P2 (k2, p2) to end. Row 2 (WS): K2 (p2, k2) to end. Rep the last two rows a to­tal of eight times. Rep row 1 once more. Row 18 (WS): Purl.

Change to 3.75mm nee­dles and Twill. Row 19 (RS): Knit. Row 20 (WS): Purl. Rep the last 2 rows once more.

Change to Soft Grey. Row 23 (RS): Knit. Row 24 (WS): Purl. Rep the last 2 rows once more.

Change to Twill. Rep the last eight rows a to­tal of five times.

Change to Twill. Row 59 (RS): Knit. Row 60 (WS): Purl.

Rep the last two rows once more. Your hat should now mea­sure 20cm (8in) in length.

Change to Soft Grey. Note: You will now con­tinue only in Soft Grey. Row 63 (RS): Knit. Row 64 (WS): Purl.

Break yarn, carry through re­main­ing sts and fas­ten off.
