Rep last 4 rows un­til you have nine bob­bles up the cen­tre of your work. Next row: (K1, p1) four times, k1 in yarn E, (p1, k1) four times, p1 in yarn D. Next row: (P1, k1) four times, p1 in yarn D, (k1, p1) four times, k1 in yarn E. Cast off.

Back Work as for front but omit­ting bob­bles.

MAK­ING UP Place WS to­gether and sew side and bot­tom seams us­ing mat­tress stitch. Purl 1 row. Row 1 (RS): K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1. 27 sts Row 2 (WS): P1, m1, p to last sts, m1, p1. 29 sts Row 3: K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1. 31 sts Cont in­creas­ing as set un­til 48 sts, then inc on ev­ery RS row un­til 53 sts. Cont straight un­til work mea­sures 27cm (10½in) fin­ish­ing on a WS row. Next row: K2, *MB, k2 rep from * to end Next row: Purl. Cast off.

Front With colour B cast on 25 sts. Purl 1 row. Row 1 (RS): K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1. 27 sts Row 2 (WS): P1, m1, p to last sts, m1, p1. 29 sts Row 3: K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1. 31 sts Cont in­creas­ing as set un­til 47 sts, then inc on ev­ery RS row un­til 53 sts. Cont straight un­til work mea­sures 23cm (9in). Change to 3.75mm nee­dles and work in knit in g st for 3cm (1¼in) Cast off.

Flap Cast on 25 sts with yarn A. Purl 1 row. Next row: MB, *k2, MB rep from * to end. Next row: Purl. Next row: K1, m1, k to last sts, m1, k1. 27 sts Next row: P1, m1, p to last st, m1, p1. Next row: K1, MB, k to last 2 sts, MB, k1. Next row: Purl. Next row: K1, m1, k to last st, m1, k1. Next row: P1, m1, p to last st, m1, p1. Re­peat the last four rows mak­ing a bob­ble on ev­ery 4th row and in­creas­ing sts un­til 51 sts. Cont straight but still mak­ing bob­bles on ev­ery 4th row un­til front flap mea­sures in length 12cm (4½in). Work 2 rows in st st. Cast off.

MAK­ING UP Sew in all loose ends. 1 With RS fac­ing sew front flap to back across top seam us­ing mat­tress stitch. 2 Plac­ing RS to­gether sew front to back around both sides and bot­tom. 3 Make a twisted cord and at­tach to ei­ther side of the bag. 4 Make a lin­ing and at­tach in­side the bag. 5 Sew in­side two but­tons at the front top of bag and make a loop for each and at­tach to back of bag. 6 Sew two press studs to the front flap and the bag.
