DEFENDER DESERT TREK
A LAND Rover Defender is one of five off road icons to be selected for a 14-day journey across the Simpson Desert in Australia.
For the 17th year in a row, Australian company ARB are setting up the Sandy Floors & Cellar Doors voyage across the desert, and have picked the British icon as one of the few cars to help celebrate its 40th anniversary.
The Defender 110 chosen features the 2.5-litre fourcylinder direct injection turbo diesel engine, and comes with 250,000 km already on the clock. Evidence of the car’s experience is clear via dents and scratches across the back, while ARB will be replacing the buckled original rims ahead of the journey.
A Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser, Toyota Hilux, Nissan GQ Patrol, and Jeep Wrangler TJ will also be joining the cause, which gets underway May 15.
