BRAKES, STEER­ING and sus­pen­sion wear grad­u­ally so, be­fore the ser­vice, note how the ve­hi­cle be­haves when cor­ner­ing, brak­ing, ac­cel­er­at­ing and de­cel­er­at­ing. Listen for squeaks, knocks and trans­mis­sion or en­gine noise that might de­serve in­ves­ti­ga­tion dur­ing the ser­vice. In a quiet and safe lo­ca­tion, check that the sus­pen­sion off-road and ac­cess heights are at­tained in a few sec­onds. Se­lect low range and drive a few yards be­fore re­s­e­lect­ing high range. Make a note of any sus­pect ar­eas that you want your garage to check dur­ing the ser­vice. A garage will nor­mally com­plete a road test af­ter the ser­vice. We check the ve­hi­cle on and off road, con­firm­ing ev­ery­thing works in­clud­ing sus­pen­sion height and low ra­tio se­lec­tions, and make a note of any is­sues. All wiper set­tings work, and wipers and wash­ers are ser­vice­able and all lamps work, in­clud­ing th­ese front cor­ner­ing lamps on the Sport.
