SERIES IIA, IIB – 1962 TO 1972; 101 – 1972 TO 1978
THEY aren't for the faint-hearted. Series IIA and IIB models had big-capacity payloads and were aimed at farmers and builders, but blighted by under-powered engines. The later 101 Forward Control was a no-nonsense military truck with a V8 petrol engine, thirstier than Oliver Reed at opening time. Some parts can be hard to find, but there is fantastic back-up from clubs, with loads of fellow enthusiasts. Do you have room for one on your drive? BUYER'S TIP: Expensive to run – and buy.
