I enjoyed the article about the Big Rig by Gary Pusey. I would like to see the rig up and running, though now that the owner of the rig, Nene Overland, has gone into liquidation, I wonder if it will be saved to live another day?

I am not so sure I would like to drive over it, but would very much like to see it being used for what it was originally designed for.

I am the owner of a 1999 V-registration Freelander XDI three-door with four seats which does not have ABS, HDC or ETC, as these were a £995 optional extra at that time, so it is possibly one of the last Freelanders built without those traction aids that were to become standard. David Bell (via email) If your Freelander hasn’t got Hill Descent Control (HDC) or Electronic Traction Control (ETC) I definitely wouldn’t recommend you tackling Big Rig… nor the icy hills mentioned by Alan Morley (left)! – Ed.
