Restaurant donates £238 to hospital campaign

A GROUP that has been fighting to save Leek Hospital has been given a financial boost.

On Thursday, June 18, the Qarma Indian restaurant in Cross Street, Mill, Leek, held a charity takeaway night, in aid of Save Leek Hospital group.

Alysha Patel from Qarma Indian Restaurant, said: “We raised £238.05 from our charity take away night. The cheque has now been handed over to Alison Ratcliffe and Pamela Wood from the charity.

“The Qarma team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped us raise the money, and we are glad that we were able to contribute to our community to help make a difference.”

Save Leek Hospital group have been fighting to keep Leek Moorlands Hospital open and also for all the beds to remain at the site for the last few years.

Chairman of the group, Pam Wood, said: “We are very grateful for the donation. We will be organising a meeting of the group in the future on how we will spend it.”
