Maurice trains with star
A dedicated Bonhill runner was joined by a Commonwealth champion at the weekend at his milestone training event.
Maurice Donohue is completing a 365-day challenge which will see him run 10k every day for the full year.
Saturday’s event was the 200th run in his challenge, and he was joined by 1970 Commonwealth Games 10K gold medallist Lachie Stewart, who started the training run at Balloch Park.
Maurice organises a training run every weekend called the Balloch Run‘n’Park.
The run starts from the main gates of Balloch Park at 9.30am on Saturday and people of all ages and fitness levels can take part by walking, jogging or running.
There is no registration, no fee and no official recording of times.
Maurice Donohue, who organises the event, said:“We want to encourage families to get out and about and active in 2017, especially when we have such great outdoor spaces like Balloch Park on our doorstep.”
There is a 5k route around the country park and a 2k route for children and families to enjoy.
