Mau­rice trains with star

A ded­i­cated Bon­hill run­ner was joined by a Com­mon­wealth cham­pion at the week­end at his mile­stone train­ing event.

Mau­rice Dono­hue is com­plet­ing a 365-day chal­lenge which will see him run 10k ev­ery day for the full year.

Satur­day’s event was the 200th run in his chal­lenge, and he was joined by 1970 Com­mon­wealth Games 10K gold medal­list Lachie Ste­wart, who started the train­ing run at Bal­loch Park.

Mau­rice or­gan­ises a train­ing run ev­ery week­end called the Bal­loch Run‘n’Park.

The run starts from the main gates of Bal­loch Park at 9.30am on Satur­day and peo­ple of all ages and fit­ness lev­els can take part by walk­ing, jog­ging or run­ning.

There is no reg­is­tra­tion, no fee and no of­fi­cial record­ing of times.

Mau­rice Dono­hue, who or­gan­ises the event, said:“We want to en­cour­age fam­i­lies to get out and about and ac­tive in 2017, es­pe­cially when we have such great out­door spa­ces like Bal­loch Park on our doorstep.”

There is a 5k route around the coun­try park and a 2k route for chil­dren and fam­i­lies to en­joy.
