Alexandria social work team to move

Lennox Herald - - NEWS - Carla Talbot

A social work service which helps vulnerable families is moving from its Alexandria base. West Dunbartonshire Council’s children and family teams will be moving from their current offices in the town’s Church Street to a new premises in Clydebank, the Lennox Herald can reveal. The local authority has assured the change in location will have no impact on the service for any families in the area. But it is understood staff within the department have raised concerns surrounding the move, claiming it will have an affect on their ability to provide an effective service. One staff member who will be affected by the move, said:“This move means the service will no longer be local in most deprived area in West Dunbartonshire. “This is a loss of an effective service in the local community of Alexandria.” A council spokeswoman said: “All children and family teams are moving to a single location to ensure the most efficient and coordinated approach to delivering these services to residents. “Staff will visit families at home or can meet them at other offices in Alexandria so there will be no requirement for families to travel to Clydebank to access services.”

The spokeswoman stressed: “There will be no impact to vulnerable families in any part of West Dunbartonshire.”

It is understood that the move will take place later this year.
