The Accountant (15)

Lennox Herald - - THE TICKET -

The Accountant makes for a dumb, dull watch across most of its too-lengthy two-hour-plus running time.

The story is convoluted and takes a remarkably simplistic, flawed view of people with autism.

That’s despite a committed turn from Ben Affleck who never once resorts to grandstanding and doesn’t overdo the quirks.

However, his would-be hero is unbelievably gifted more skills than Affleck’s real-life buddy Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne.

An unnecessary amount of sugar is thrown over the ill-fitting climax too; you expect an overabundance of schmaltz to close out a rom-com, not a tale of a self-preserving, gun-toting mathematician.
