French market c’est magnifique

Lennox Herald - - SOCIALIST STANCE -

Gartocharn Primary celebrated the end of their French week with a food market.

Primary 6/7 hosted the event with the help of a chef from the Finnieston Restaurant in Glasgow, Florian, who helped them prepare traditional French food, such as cuisses de grenouille and escargot - frogs legs and snails.

Pupils were invited to the market one class at a time to‘ spend’ euros that they had been provided with.

The pupils who ran the market experienced organising an event, giving change, following price lists, serving customers, hosting and manning the stall, including their very own crepe station.

Head teacher John McDonald, said: “The market was magnifique. Very well organised. There were interesting things to taste and I really enjoyed trying the frogs legs and snails.”

Primary 6 pupil, Charlie Haggarty, was pleased there was plenty food for everyone to try and other pupils said it felt like a “real market as you had the choice of picking what you wanted to try”.
