Scheme for sports stars of the future
A Dumbarton sports club has launched a new apprentice scheme for budding sports coaches.
The 12-month Sports Stars apprentice scheme, which began at the start of the month, will teach valuable skills on how to support sports coaches to deliver high quality sports sessions for the community.
Five young people from the Dunbartonshire Disability Sports Club will now take part in a two-month training programme before later going on to complete 10 months of work experience.
This will give them an opportunity to support the delivery of sport sessions for the community in partnership withWest Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust’s Sports Development team.
The club members who are participating in the new apprenticeship programme are Karyn Lynch, Brandon Friel, MichaelToy, Natalie Brockett and Leah Nally.
