Scheme for sports stars of the fu­ture

A Dum­bar­ton sports club has launched a new ap­pren­tice scheme for bud­ding sports coaches.

The 12-month Sports Stars ap­pren­tice scheme, which be­gan at the start of the month, will teach valu­able skills on how to sup­port sports coaches to de­liver high qual­ity sports ses­sions for the com­mu­nity.

Five young peo­ple from the Dun­bar­ton­shire Dis­abil­ity Sports Club will now take part in a two-month train­ing pro­gramme be­fore later go­ing on to com­plete 10 months of work ex­pe­ri­ence.

This will give them an op­por­tu­nity to sup­port the de­liv­ery of sport ses­sions for the com­mu­nity in part­ner­ship with­West Dun­bar­ton­shire Leisure Trust’s Sports De­vel­op­ment team.

The club mem­bers who are par­tic­i­pat­ing in the new ap­pren­tice­ship pro­gramme are Karyn Lynch, Bran­don Friel, MichaelToy, Natalie Brock­ett and Leah Nally.
