Cops say arrest will be made over fire
Police have confirmed they expect to make an arrest this week following the blaze which left a mum critically ill.
Susan Waring, 44, was trapped inside her home in Redburn, Bonhill as a result of the fire.
Officers, who are treating the incident as attempted murder, now say they are closing in on those responsible for starting the fire last month, after speaking to Susan.
Inspector John Mullen confirmed she has since been released from hospital and has left the area.
The mum-of-five was left in a coma and fighting for life following the fire in the early hours of Tuesday, July 25.
Neighbours could hear her screaming for help and tried to rescue her but were overwhelmed by the smoke from the property.
Her best friend Fran Paton – who said Susan had a “heart of gold”– held her soot-covered hand after she was pulled from her burning home.
Inspector Mullen, of Dumbarton police office told us yesterday (Tuesday): “Officers, are hoping to detain suspects today or tomorrow.”
