Localsto dealwith birdmess atstation
Campaigning community members are continuing their fight to get pigeon mess at Dumbarton East station sorted out once and for all.
Dumbarton East and Central Community Council were due to meet last night (Tuesday) as the Lennox Herald went to print to discuss the ongoing issue which they have been battling to get tackled for years.
They have been told by West Dunbartonshire Council that the authority is currently trying to find the £30,000 funding required to put in the birdproofing measures.
Joint secretary of the community council, Dorothy Heron, said: “The council did a clean up under the bridge every few weeks which was fine but within a few days it was in a mess again.
“Kids are having to walk through it on the way home. It’s absolutely disgusting.”
Meanwhile, a planning application has been lodged to install plastic bird deterrent spikes at the railway bridge at Buchanan Street in Dumbarton East.
Network Rail has lodged the plans which also involve repairs to the bridge and installing fencing.
