A young Helensburgh dancer has racked up an impressive 43-strong medal haul aged just nine. Eilidh Gammons added to her impressive collection with two Scottish champion titles and the Argyllshire championship award at the recent Cowal Highland Gathering. The Hermitage Primary pupil, who trains at the Margaret Rose School of Dance in Helensburgh, also walked away the winner with the most points. Proud mum and dad Lynn and Kevin also watched their second daughter Catriona, 15, being awarded the 15 years and under Argyllshire Championship award. They have a house adorned with medals and trophies. Eilidh has racked up 43 championship titles, including a recent one at Scotdance held in Canada. Dance teacher Margaret MacInnes said: “She won the titles last year too so to go on and win them all again for the second year running is outstanding. “I am incredibly proud of her. “She works very hard and never misses a class. She motivates herself and is a credit to the dance school.” Eilidh began dancing when she was aged two and used to watch her big sister Catriona from the sidelines until she was old enough to take part. The dance school won 13 trophies at the games, with Rhiannon Charles walking away with the adult champion title. Margaret said:“All the dancers have really excelled themselves this year and we have five more events left this year to compete in. “We campaigned for many years to get our dancers eligible for the Argyllshire championships so it is a huge achievement.” Anybody interested in going to the dance
