Re­gion pushed as cul­tural hotspot

Ef­forts are be­ing made to pro­mote West Dun­bar­ton­shire as a his­tor­i­cal and cul­tural hub with the creation of a new coun­cil com­mit­tee.

The com­mu­ni­ca­tions, mu­se­ums and cul­tural de­vel­op­ment com­mit­tee will hold its first meet­ing to­mor­row (Wed­nes­day).

Its pur­pose is to pro­mote the area “build­ing on the sig­nif­i­cant his­tor­i­cal and cul­tural legacy of the past”.

It will also de­vise a strat­egy to “re­alise the po­ten­tial of cul­ture as a key com­po­nent of eco­nomic growth and tourism”.

Ac­tiv­i­ties and events will be ex­plored and de­vel­oped through work­ing groups.
