Top brass at base

Staff at Faslane were vis­ited by the head of the Royal Navy, Admiral Sir Philip Jones.

Ac­com­pa­nied by his wife, Lady El­iz­a­beth Jones, the First Sea Lord toured both Faslane and Coul­port.

Two per­son­nel from Clyde were pre­sented with medals dur­ing the visit. Civil ser­vant Mairi Steven­son re­ceived the Im­pe­rial Ser­vice Medal (ISM) and 43 Com­mando’s Lieu­tenant Colonel Pete Kemp was pre­sented with a long ser­vice and good con­duct medal with bar.

Dur­ing the visit Lady El­iz­a­beth headed to He­lens­burgh and toured Churchill Square’s Drum­fork Club, cur­rently un­der­go­ing a ma­jor re­fur­bish­ment.

Sir Philip said:“HM Naval Base Clyde knows what team­work and part­ner­ship looks like.”
