The new season of monthly talks begins on Wednesday, September 13 at 7.30pm in Dumbarton’s Concord Centre when Laura Mahoney will present The Starfish Decoy System of the Langcraigs. The talk follows up on an event and a video made by two students using a drone, acting as a Luftwaffe bomber observing The Blitz decoy fires which were lit at Langcraigs above Dumbarton. Membership of LHS available on the night at £10 for all eight talks in the season. Guests admitted for £2. Tea and coffee available.
The Wee Look Back archive film sessions returns on Wednesday September 13 at 1.30pm in Dumbarton’s Concord Community Centre with 90 minutes of film from West Dunbartonshire and further afield. Admission is £2 to include tea and buns at the interval. Membership subscription for features, classics and musicals film clubs is available at £10 for five films per club. Alternatives café open before the show.
Bonhill and Dalmonach Community Council
The group’s AGM will take place on Thursday, September 14 at 7pm in Bonhill Church. All residents welcome. The meeting will also discuss the response to the local development plan by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Clydebank and District Highland Association are having a ceilidh in the Napier Hall Old Kilpatrick on Friday, September 15 at 7.30pm. Admission at the door is £8 and this includes tea and home baking.
The Vale of Leven Townswomen’s Guild restarts on Friday, September 15. The meeting will be at 7.30pm in Alexandria Parish Church Hall. Fiona Sinclair will talk about Houses of the Clyde. New members welcome.

There will be several stalls including tombola, videos and a game of Hoopla.
Balloch Accordion and Fiddle Club
The club begins the new 2017/18 season on Sunday, September 17 in St Kessogs Hall, Balloch at 7.30pm our first guest artist is accordionist Emma Dickson. Tea, coffee and biscuits served at the interval. There will also be a bar and raffle. Players and non players are welcome.
On Wednesday, September 20 Langcraigs Hillwalking Club will have an illustrated talk by Ronnie Paton on cycling from Land’s End to John O’ Groats. Meeting starts at 8pm at The Cutty Sark Centre, Howatshaws Road, Bellsmyre. Non members are welcome; there is no charge. Bonhill Senior Citizens Association are having a music afternoon for all members on Tuesday, September 26 at 1pm.
Dumbarton and Lomond RNLI will host a charity concert on Friday, September 29 from 7.30pm. The evening of musical entertainment will feature band Rocksalt and All Sorts Choir as well as other artists. Tickets are £5 and this includes tea, coffee and a light supper. A concert will be held on Wednesday, September 27 in Alexandria Leisure Centre at 1pm, The company are recruiting for the 2017-18 year. The West Dunbartonshire Leisure sports development community programme has started back. There are a number of classes available for children aged 18 months to 19 years. Popular sports include athletics, badminton, basketball, football, goalkeeping and tennis. For the younger children there is football, balance bike and gymnastics. The Armed Forces Veterans Association, Dumbarton, is open from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday at Dumbarton Central Station.
