Len­nox Her­itage So­ci­ety

The new sea­son of monthly talks be­gins on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 13 at 7.30pm in Dum­bar­ton’s Con­cord Cen­tre when Laura Mahoney will present The Starfish De­coy Sys­tem of the Langcraigs. The talk fol­lows up on an event and a video made by two stu­dents us­ing a drone, act­ing as a Luft­waffe bomber ob­serv­ing The Blitz de­coy fires which were lit at Langcraigs above Dum­bar­ton. Mem­ber­ship of LHS avail­able on the night at £10 for all eight talks in the sea­son. Guests ad­mit­ted for £2. Tea and cof­fee avail­able.

Con­cord cin­ema

The Wee Look Back ar­chive film ses­sions re­turns on Wed­nes­day Septem­ber 13 at 1.30pm in Dum­bar­ton’s Con­cord Com­mu­nity Cen­tre with 90 min­utes of film from West Dun­bar­ton­shire and fur­ther afield. Ad­mis­sion is £2 to in­clude tea and buns at the in­ter­val. Mem­ber­ship sub­scrip­tion for fea­tures, clas­sics and mu­si­cals film clubs is avail­able at £10 for five films per club. Alternatives café open be­fore the show.

Bon­hill and Dal­monach Com­mu­nity Coun­cil

The group’s AGM will take place on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 14 at 7pm in Bon­hill Church. All res­i­dents wel­come. The meet­ing will also dis­cuss the re­sponse to the lo­cal de­vel­op­ment plan by West Dun­bar­ton­shire Coun­cil.

Ceilidh

Cly­de­bank and District High­land As­so­ci­a­tion are hav­ing a ceilidh in the Napier Hall Old Kil­patrick on Fri­day, Septem­ber 15 at 7.30pm. Ad­mis­sion at the door is £8 and this in­cludes tea and home bak­ing.

Vale Guild

The Vale of Leven Townswomen’s Guild restarts on Fri­day, Septem­ber 15. The meet­ing will be at 7.30pm in Alexan­dria Par­ish Church Hall. Fiona Sin­clair will talk about Houses of the Clyde. New mem­bers wel­come.

Cof­fee morn­ing

On Satur­day, Septem­ber 16 St Au- Char­ity Heart­start pre­sented a life-sav­ing de­fib­ril­la­tor to Carousel Nurs­ery re­cently. Pic­tured is the staff and kids with Dum­bar­ton Ro­tary Pres­i­dent Gor­don Craig and Sheenah Nel­son, He­lens­burgh and Gare­lochside Ro­tary’s Heart­start co­or­di­na­tor. Pic­ture by Brian Averell gus­tine’s Church is hold­ing a cof­fee morn­ing in aid of the South Asian flood dis­as­ter from 10am un­til noon in the Com­mu­nity Hall St Mary’s Way Dum­bar­ton. There will be sev­eral stalls in­clud­ing tombola, videos and a game of Hoopla.

Bal­loch Ac­cor­dion and Fid­dle Club

The club be­gins the new 2017/18 sea­son on Sun­day, Septem­ber 17 in St Kes­sogs Hall, Bal­loch at 7.30pm our first guest artist is ac­cor­dion­ist Emma Dick­son. Tea, cof­fee and bis­cuits served at the in­ter­val. There will also be a bar and raf­fle. Play­ers and non play­ers are wel­come.

Hill­walk­ing

On Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 20 Langcraigs Hill­walk­ing Club will have an il­lus­trated talk by Ron­nie Pa­ton on cy­cling from Land’s End to John O’ Groats. Meet­ing starts at 8pm at The Cutty Sark Cen­tre, Howat­shaws Road, Bellsmyre. Non mem­bers are wel­come; there is no charge. Bon­hill Se­nior Cit­i­zens As­so­ci­a­tion are hav­ing a mu­sic af­ter­noon for all mem­bers on Tues­day, Septem­ber 26 at 1pm.

RNLI

Dum­bar­ton and Lomond RNLI will host a char­ity con­cert on Fri­day, Septem­ber 29 from 7.30pm. The evening of mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment will fea­ture band Rock­salt and All Sorts Choir as well as other artists. Tick­ets are £5 and this in­cludes tea, cof­fee and a light sup­per. A con­cert will be held on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 27 in Alexan­dria Leisure Cen­tre at 1pm, The com­pany are re­cruit­ing for the 2017-18 year. They of­fer a wide range of ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing the Duke of Ed­in­burgh Award Scheme. An­chor Boys, P1 to P3, meet at Bon­hill Church Hall on Tues­days from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Ju­nior Sec­tion, P4 to P6, meets at Bon­hill Church Hall on Fri­days from 6.30pm to 7.45pm. Sports de­vel­op­ment

The West Dun­bar­ton­shire Leisure sports de­vel­op­ment com­mu­nity pro­gramme has started back. There are a num­ber of classes avail­able for chil­dren aged 18 months to 19 years. Pop­u­lar sports in­clude ath­let­ics, bad­minton, bas­ket­ball, foot­ball, goalkeeping and ten­nis. For the younger chil­dren there is foot­ball, bal­ance bike and gym­nas­tics. Autism sup­port

The West Dun­bar­ton­shire al­lot­ment group meet ev­ery Thurs­day from 1pm to 3pm at the al­lot­ment at East­field Cres­cent,Dum­bar­ton. The Armed Forces Vet­er­ans As­so­ci­a­tion, Dum­bar­ton, is open from 8am to 4pm Mon­day to Fri­day at Dum­bar­ton Cen­tral Sta­tion.
