Pupils cel­e­brate their hard work and achieve­ments

The hard work of pupils at Dum­bar­ton Academy was re­warded at the school’s an­nual prize­giv­ing cer­e­mony last week.

Proud rel­a­tives packed into the high school to see the stu­dents take cen­tre stage at the awards night on Wed­nes­day.

The school cel­e­brated some fan­tas­tic achieve­ments and it was a night to re­mem­ber for the tal­ented pupils.

Tay­lor Flem­ing was named as head girl, while David Hen­der­son was granted the head boy ac­co­lade.

Other high­lights saw James Weir be­stowed with the Pride of Dum­bar­ton 060917DUMBARTON_ACAD_PRIZE_002 Award, while Ca­tri­ona Kirk won the McFall Tro­phy lead­er­ship award and the Bri­ony Wad­dell Award for over­com­ing ad­ver­sity.

Ben Muir in S4 and Katie Black in S5 were awarded the dux ac­co­lades, which are pre­sented to one per­son in each of the year groups who achieved the best re­sults in SQA ex­ams.

Ross Thack­rey won the S4 merit award for his hard work, while dozens of oth­ers re­ceived their Duke of Ed­in­burgh awards.

The Alan Thomp­son Com­mu­nity Cup was cap­tured by Christie Gri­er­son and Jil­lian Far­rell was named the win­ner of the par­ent coun­cil’s Rona Evans Award.
