Bright ideas at Bonhill

Lennox Herald - - NEWS -

More than 1000 daffodil bulbs have been planted at Bonhill Church thanks to a team of green-fingered volunteers.

Crowds of local people turned out on Saturday to help plant hundreds of bulbs which will add a splash of yellow to the church graveyard.

Children and adults alike donned their gardening gloves and tools to help with the colourful project.

The planting project was the idea of minister Barbara O’Donnell, who joined the congregation last year, and it has proved to be a big success.

This is the second year the burst of colourful flowers have been added to the church grounds, with over 1500 being planted in October last year.

Morag Kennedy of the Friends of Bonhill helped serve well-earned tea and cakes to the volunteers who went along to help.

She told the Lennox Herald:“It was a great event last year and we got a good turnout so we were really looking forward to inviting everyone along again. It was such a big success last year and the daffodils really brighten up the place.”
