The Scot­tish SPCA cel­e­brated their 10th an­nual Scot­tish An­i­mal Week cul­mi­nat­ing with a com­mu­nity open day at their cen­tre in Dum­bar­ton last month.

Dum­bar­ton Acous­tic Mu­sic Night

Dum­bar­ton Acous­tic Mu­sic Night will be hold­ing its next mu­sic night at St Au­gus­tine’s Church on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 13. Doors open at 7pm with a start time of 7.30pm fin­ish­ing at 10.30pm. Cost is £5 en­try, bring your own bot­tle and glass and en­joy a won­der­ful night of var­ied mu­sic. This month, Ka­tee Kross, along with Ian and Val Wald­man, The Mid­gies, Tripe and Onions, Joe Plun­kett and Friend per­form­ing on the night. Money raised from the past few shows will be do­nated to a lo­cal char­ity. Dum­bar­ton An­i­mal Res­cue and Re­hom­ing Cen­tre man­ager Joe McDade said:“The open day was a huge suc­cess.

“We raised a fan­tas­tic £900 on the day.

“We are so grate­ful for all the sup­port, from do­na­tions of raf­fle prizes to those who made baked goods to sell.

“Dur­ing the day we had a raf­fle and tom­bola, and plenty of stalls - with some Christ­mas good­ies for good mea­sure!”

The or­gan­i­sa­tion are self-fund­ing. River­side Church’s Tues­day Lunches re­sumed yes­ter­day (Tuea­day, Oc­to­ber 3) and con­tinue ev­ery Tues­day un­til De­cem­ber 19.

Christ­mas fayre

A Christ­mas fayre will take place at Dum­bar­ton Ma­sonic Hall on Novem­ber 4 from 11am un­til 3pm. Stalls sell­ing a num­ber of items will be on dis­play, in­clud­ing jew­ellery, hand­bags and purses, books and craft stalls. There will also be tom­bola, face paint­ing and home bak­ing. All pro­ceeds raised from the event will be do­nated to the Scot­tish Cot Death Trust. Former pupils from the Vale of Leven Academy class of 69 are be­ing in­vited to at­tend a re­union on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 7, at Vale of Leven Golf Club from 7.30pm. 1777 (Dum­bar­ton) Squadron cadets are re­cruit­ing young peo­ple aged 13 to 17. There are a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties for mem­bers to take part in, in­clud­ing fly­ing, glid­ing, shoot­ing, lead­er­ship and sports. Alzheimer Scot­land

The West Dun­bar­ton­shire al­lot­ment group meet ev­ery Thurs­day from 1pm to 3pm at the al­lot­ment at East­field Cres­cent,Dum­bar­ton.The group are grow­ing veg­eta­bles which will be given to the com­mu­nity and wel­come any­one liv­ing with de­men­tia. The Armed Forces Vet­er­ans As­so­ci­a­tion, Dum­bar­ton, is open from 8am to 4pm Mon­day to Fri­day at Dum­bar­ton Cen­tral Sta­tion.
